Op. 12: Brahms Sonatas for Cello

Op. 12: Brahms Sonatas for Cello

The Op. 12: Brahms Sonatas for Cello includes four Brahms sonatas, including Sonatas 78,100,108, and 120, as well as the Ballade, Op. 10, and the Intermezzos, Op. 116, No. 4 And Op. 117, No.1. Each sonata (including all movements) is transcribed and arranged for cello and piano. All the demo recordings are synthesized from my original scores, and executed in Sibelius©.

I have long felt that it is unfortunate that many beautiful classical works remain locked away and rarely enjoyed because they are inaccessible to most musicians, other than virtuosic performers. Therefore, this collection includes a “Redux” version of all movements, except for Ballade, Op. 10 No. 4 and Intermezzo, Op. 116 No. 4, which are quite accessible as is. Additionally, only the “redux” version of Intermezzo, Op. 117 No. 1 is included. The “Redux” versions are shorter in length and less technically demanding than the initial transcriptions. I hope these “Redux” versions will some of the outstanding elements of these brilliant pieces accessible to intermediate cellists.
