Op. 13: Saint Saens for Cello
The Op. 13: Saint Saens for Cello includes arrangements of a Violin Concerto, (Op. 61), three Rhapsodies, originally for Organ (Op. 7 Nos. 1-3), six Romances (Op. 27, originally for Violin, Organ, and Piano, Op. 36, for Cello [Redux only], Op. 37, originally for Flute or Violin, Op. 48, originally for Violin, Op. 51, for Cello [Redux only], Op. 67, for Horn or Cello [Redux only]), and a Sonata (Op. 167), originally for Clarinet. Each piece is transcribed and arranged for cello and piano. All the demo recordings are synthesized from my original scores, and executed in Sibelius©.
I have long felt that it is unfortunate that many beautiful classical works remain locked away and rarely enjoyed because they are inaccessible to most musicians, other than virtuosic performers. Therefore, this collection includes original “Redux” versions of the pieces. Additionally, only the original “Redux” versions of Romance (Op. 36), Romance (Op. 51), and Romance (Op. 67), are included. The “Redux” versions are shorter in length and less technically demanding than the initial arrangements. These “Redux” versions make some of the outstanding elements of these brilliant pieces accessible to intermediate cellists.
